THE WEEK OF THE "FIRSTS"

Lucie has been working on her teeth for the past three months. Finally on Tuesday (8/14/07) a bottom tooth popped through. After three other kids with first teeth, one would think the 4th child’s tooth milestone would be less exciting. Well, let me tell you I am both excited & sad…excited because it is her first tooth, sad because this is the “last” first tooth. I will always have mixed emotions about Lucie’s milestones, since she is the baby. Just the other day Bryan commented that I need a saddle for my hip since Lucie is permanently stuck there. I told him that I am going to savor every moment of her as a baby since she is our last. When you think about it…her first’s will always be our last’s. That is somewhat depressing.

Caleb is now officially a 2nd grader. Last Thursday was Caleb’s first day of school. Our tradition is to take him to breakfast on the first day. This year he chose the donut shop. Wouldn’t you know it since I am on a diet! Oh well, both he and Bryan enjoyed a yummy donut. Then it was off to school. We actually met his teacher on Monday at the Open House. She seems to be very nice; I think Caleb will have a good year.

Wow, our baby just got her first tooth and our oldest bud entered 2nd grade. Before we know it Caleb will be in 7th, Grace in 3rd, Ronan in 2nd & Lucie in Kindergarten. Make room for the Wunsch Bunch!!!

Trying to crawl is exhausting!

Family Time

Earlier this month Bryan’s dad, Galen, and his sister Katy came for a visit. The week was filled with activities including movies, swimming, Kansas Cosmosphere, a trip to Harper KS, and the Sumner County Fair. Note to self: Never go back to the Sumner County Fair.

I think everyone, including the kids, had a great time. I know that Bryan really enjoys spending time with his Dad. I am sure Galen & Katy were exhausted by the time they left early Monday morning. Bryan’s family lives in Oregon, so we don’t see them very often. When we do get together we try to stuff as much as possible into a short time. They last visited two years ago, Caleb was 5, Grace was 1 & Ronan was 1 month old. Needless to say, they were able to experience pure chaos this time with a 7, 3, 2, & 6 months old. Never a dull moment at the Wunsch House!!

House news: The basement walls have been poured. Next up: flat work (basement floor). We are in the process of picking out the stucco color, cultured stone, brick, & interior doors. Just deciding on what we want is exhausting. I can’t imagine how Bryan feels with the day-to-day responsibilities!

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!

Can I just tell you how excited we are…excited for each kid to have their own room, excited for there to be enough room for all of us to live comfortably, excited we won’t have to see our weird neighbors anymore. Unfortunately, this excitement is just excitement for right now, as our new house will not be finished for several months. But all that matters is construction has started!!!!

I will be posting pictures during this entire process. A week and a half ago we took a family picture on our lot a few days before the hole was dug. We are going to try and take this same family picture periodically during different phases of the house. Can you tell that we are so excited??

Bryan is actually the GC on this project, and he will be doing a lot of the work himself. In about a month all of his time will be spent at the new house…while I am home with the crazy maniacs. Trust me --- it’s worth it. I am sure I will have help from both my mom and Lynda, but I don’t want them to feel as though they have to be over 24/7. So cheers – to the beginning of another chapter of our lives. More to come…
